Dr Rebecca Sutton 

Rebecca Sutton is a Senior Lecturer in International Law at the University of Glasgow. She is an international lawyer and academic with a practitioner background in youth peacebuilding, human rights and humanitarian aid. Her interdisciplinary research agenda focuses on the role of emotions in International Humanitarian Law (IHL), innovations in legal education pedagogy, and participatory methods in youth peacebuilding. 

Dr Sutton was a visiting scholar at Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) in Spring 2022 (4th to 9th April).

Prof Karen E Smith

Karen E Smith is a Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research focuses on the ‘international relations of the European Union’, EU-UN relations, and the formulation and implementation of common EU foreign policies. She is now working on projects on women in foreign policy-making and diplomacy, and on the role of that emotions play in EU foreign policy-making. 

Prof Smith was a visiting scholar at Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) in Summer 2022 (29th June to 1st July).
